CODE 1 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health workers (AHW)

An Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health worker (AHW) liaises with patients, clients and visitors to hospitals and health clinics and works as a team member to arrange, coordinate and provide health care delivery in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community health clinics.

CODE 5 Social and emotional wellbeing staff

Includes psychologists, counsellors, social workers, welfare workers and SEWB staff – Link Up caseworkers.

CODE 6 Medical specialists and/or other allied professionals

Medical specialists include paediatricians, endocrinologists, ophthalmologists, obstetrician/ gynaecologists, ear nose and throat specialists, cardiologists, renal medicine specialists, psychiatrists / psychiatric registrars, dermatologists and surgeons. Allied health professionals include audiologists / audiometrists, diabetes educators, dieticians, optometrists, pharmacists, physiotherapists, podiatrists and speech pathologists.

CODE 8 Dental support workers

Includes dental assistants and dental technicians.

CODE 11 Transport workers who take clients to see health professionals who do not work for the health service

Includes Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health workers (AHW) that do not provide health care; they are included in CODE 1.  Includes the transportation of clients to see health professionals who do not work for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health service.

CODE 12 Transport workers who take clients to see health professionals who work for the health service

Includes Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health workers (AHW) that do not provide health care; they are included in CODE 1.  Includes the transportation of clients to see health professionals who do work for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health service.
