Name - Classification Scheme
The following information is applicable to classification schemes only.
Definition
A single or multi-word designation assigned to a classification scheme.
Obligation
Mandatory completion.
Development rules
State the full and formal name of the classification scheme e.g. International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems, Tenth Revision, Australian Modification 3rd edition.
A classification scheme name should not begin with the word The e.g. Australian Standard Drug of Concern 2000, not The Australian Standard Drug of Concern 2000.
If the classification scheme has an edition or version number, insert the edition or version number and the suffix edition or version. For example: International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems, Tenth Revision, Australian Modification 3rd edition.
If the classification scheme is not associated with an edition or version number, insert the year of publication after the name e.g. Australian Standard Classification of Education 2001.
Hyphens (-) should only be used when two or more words are turned into a single compound word. Do not leave any spaces before or after the hyphen. For example, ‘on-call’, ‘waist-to-hip ratio’.
Do not include any of the following in a classification scheme name unless they are part of the official classification scheme title:
- Quotation marks
- Colons (:)
Slashes (/) are permitted; do not include any spaces before or after the slash.
