| Guide for use: | Hormone therapy is cancer treatment that achieves its antitumour effect through changes in hormonal balance. This includes the administration of hormones, agents acting via hormonal mechanisms, antihormones and steroids. The completion date of hormone treatment is the date of the last dose administered during the course of treatment. The completion date of hormone therapy is recorded regardless of whether the course of treatment is completed as intended, and regardless of the intent or timing of immunotherapy. Do not record the dates for prednisone as hormone therapy when it is administered for reasons other than chemotherapeutic treatment. Only record prednisone as hormone therapy when it is administered in combination with chemotherapy such as MOPP (mechlorethamine, vincristine, procarbazine, prednisone) or COPP (cyclophosphamide, vincristine, procarbazine, prednisone). Tumour involvement or cancer treatment may destroy hormone-producing tissue. Hormone replacement therapy will be given if the hormone is necessary to maintain normal metabolism and body function. Do not code hormone replacement therapy as part of the initial course of treatment. A patient may undergo hormone therapy for an extended period of time. Multiple entries are not permitted. Dates of surgery, radiotherapy and other systemic treatments are collected as separate items. However, if a patient receives treatment with a protocol that includes different types of systemic therapy agents, for example, a chemotherapy agent and a hormone therapy agent, record the completion date of treatment in both relevant data items. | |
