The Census does not provide information on level of qualification for those working towards qualification (only for those who have completed). Therefore, the data on education/training includes persons aged 18-24 engaged in education/training at any qualification level.

Specification: Interim

Work is required to collect data by qualification level of current study. The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is exploring options for collecting level and field of current study in future household surveys, commencing with General Social Survey (GSS) 2010. The ABS is not planning on collecting these data items in future Census’s.

Other issues caveats:Help on this termThe Indigenous undercount in the Census may introduce bias into the results for Indigenous disaggregation, which may affect comparability across states and territories.
