National Health Performance Authority (retired)

The National Health Performance Authority (NHPA) was an independent body set up under the National Health Reform Act 2011 to provide locally relevant and nationally consistent information on the performance of healthcare organisations and health systems. NHPA drew on a set of nearly 50 indicators that were agreed by the Council of Australian Governments to measure the performance of hospitals and other health service providers. NHPA ceased operations on 30 June 2016 and the agency's performance reporting functions transferred to the AIHW from 1 July 2016. The NHPA registration authority was retired on 1 July and all standards registered by NHPA as at COB 30 June 2016 were changed to retired status.
