Scope: | The National Out-of-Home Care Standards (NOOHCS) file cluster is used to collect information for reporting against measures under the National Standards for Out-of-Home Care. These measures are reported for children and young people aged less than 18 years whose care arrangements were ordered through the Children’s Court, where parental responsibility for the child or young person was transferred to the Minister/Chief Executive. The scope for the National Out-of-Home Care Standards includes children and young people who were residing in out-of-home care arrangements, Specialist Homelessness Services, disability facilities, juvenile detention, were self-placed or homeless. |

Guide for use: | For this file a person is a child or young person aged less than 18 years. Note: the population used for the National Out-of-Home Care Standards measures may differ; as such, the individual data items may also have different populations (e.g. children in scope on the night of 30 June; children admitted to the care of the Chief/Executive during a reporting period). |

Collection methods: | Each child that was in scope during the reporting period will appear once as a new line in the file. This will enable a unique count of children who were in scope at any given point during the reference period. |
