Number of regular Indigenous clients, aged 15 and over, who have had an AUDIT-C result recorded within the previous 24 months with a score of:

  • greater than or equal to 4 in males and 3 in females; or
  • less than 4 in males and 3 in females.
Rationale:Help on this term

Excessive or hazardous alcohol consumption is associated with health and social problems in all populations, including Indigenous Australians. The information generated using AUDIT-C screening test may be used to advise or refer the person to change their drinking habit.

Number of regular Indigenous clients, aged 15 and over, who have had an AUDIT-C result recorded within the previous 24 months with a score of:

  • greater than or equal to 4 in males and 3 in females; or
  • less than 4 in males and 3 in females.

‘Regular client’ refers to a client of an Australian Government Department of Health-funded primary health-care service (that is required to report against the Indigenous primary health care key performance indicators) who has an active medical record; that is, a client who has attended the Department of Health-funded primary health-care service at least 3 times in 2 years.
