Number of regular Indigenous clients, aged 15 years and over, who have had an AUDIT-C result recorded within the previous 24 months with a score of:

  • greater than or equal to 4 in males and 3 in females; or
  • less than 4 in males and 3 in females.
Rationale:Help on this term

Excessive or hazardous alcohol consumption is associated with health and social problems in all populations, including Indigenous Australians. The information generated using AUDIT-C screening test may be used to advise or refer the person to change their drinking habit.

Number of regular Indigenous clients, aged 15 years and over, who have had an AUDIT-C result recorded within the previous 24 months with a score of:

  • greater than or equal to 4 in males and 3 in females; or
  • less than 4 in males and 3 in females.

‘Regular client’ refers to a client of an Australian Government Department of Health-funded primary health care service (that is required to report against the Indigenous primary health care key performance indicators) who has an active medical record; that is, a client who has attended the Department of Health-funded primary health care service at least 3 times in 2 years.
