Guide for use: | CODE 1 Yes Use if the child had an initial health check. CODE 2 No Use if the child did not have an initial health check. CODE 7 Not applicable Use if the child was not required to have an initial health check. CODE 9 Not stated/inadequately described Use if it was unknown if the child had an initial health check (e.g. due to data quality).

Collection methods: | If the child was required to have an initial health check during the reference period (i.e. code 1 was recorded for 'initial health check required indicator'), code 1, 2 or 9 should be recorded for this item. Code 9 should be recorded only if it was unknown whether a health check was required during the reference period (e.g. due to data quality). If code 2, 7 or 9 was recorded for Child—initial health check required indicator, yes/no/not applicable/not stated/inadequately described code N, code 7 should be recorded for this item. |
Comments: | Record only for children admitted to the care of the Minister/Chief Executive during the reporting period. Children admitted to care includes all children admitted to the care of the Minister/Chief Executive for the first time during the reporting period, as well as children returning to the care of the Minister/Chief Executive after exiting more than 60 days previously. Children with an ongoing care arrangement from a previous reporting period are not counted as being admitted to care in the current reporting period. Children admitted to the care of the Minister/Chief Executive more than once during the reporting period should be recorded only once in the National out-of-home care standards (NOOHCS) file, irrespective of the number of times they were admitted. Health check items should be reported for the first admission during the current reporting period. |
