CODE 1   Admitted patientspecialised mental health care unit

This code is used for a patient who is admitted to a specialised mental health service that provides overnight care in a psychiatric hospital, a specialised mental health unit in an acute hospital or a specialised mental health care hospital-in-the-home service.

 

CODE 2    Admitted patientother

This code is used for a patient who is admitted to a hospital service (including hospital-in-the-home) outside a designated psychiatric unit.

 

CODE 3    Community patientspecialised mental health care unit

This code is used for a patient who is in a specialised mental health service that provides mental health care within a community setting and is not admitted to an inpatient facility.

 

CODE 4    Residential patientspecialised mental health care unit

This code is used for a patient who is in a specialised mental health service that provides overnight care within a domestic-like environment. Residential mental health services may include rehabilitation, treatment or extended care.

 

CODE 5    Emergency department patient

This code is used for a patient who is in a hospital emergency department or emergency service.

 

CODE 6    Community patientother

This code is used for a patient who is in a community care service that provides care in either the community and/or hospital-based ambulatory care setting outside of a specialised mental health service. These services may include hospital outpatient clinics.
