The Duplicate record cluster includes data elements that define multiple identifiers for a single entity. This cluster also describes information about the organisation or individual provider which confirms the existence of duplicate records and the date this confirmation occurs.

Number/name registries may have duplicates (multiple registrations for a single individual or organisation). Computer systems and manual searching of registries will identify potential duplicates.
Duplicate customer records fragment data across two records presenting a potential clinical safety risk and the potential risks of fraudulent claiming and identify theft. Duplicate records compromise the integrity of the system of unique customer reference numbers and integrity of customer records.
