Definition: | The date on which a late effect appears after the acute stage of a disease or condition has resolved. This may be as a result of the treatment, the disease process, or both. A late effect is a persistent complication, disability or adverse outcome that appears after the acute stage of a disease has resolved (excluding a recurrence or progression of disease). This may be as a result of the treatment, the disease process, or both. Examples of late effects include infertility, hyperthyroidism, fatigue, scoliosis and cognitive impairment. |
