Computation description: | The probability of surviving five years in people with cancer is divided by the probability of surviving five years in the general population (matched on age, sex and calendar year). Analysis will be undertaken using the ‘period’ method of calculation. See Cancer survival and prevalence in Australia: cancers diagnosed from 1982 to 2004 (2008 Cancer Series no. 42. Cat. no. CAN 38). Analyses by state and territory, remoteness and Socio-Economic Indexes for Areas (SEIFA) Index of Relative Socio-Economic Disadvantage (IRSD) are based on usual residence of person at diagnosis.
