Accountability attributes

Reporting requirements:Help on this termNational Healthcare Agreement
Organisation responsible for providing data:Help on this termAustralian Institute of Health and Welfare
Further data development / collection required:Help on this termSpecification: Long-term.

Work is required to improve the identification of Indigenous Australians within this data.

Other issues caveats:Help on this term

Excludes private hospitals in Tasmania, the ACT and NT.

Disaggregation by Indigenous status, remoteness area and SEIFA of residence within individual states/territories is subject to data quality considerations. Some disaggregations could result in numbers too small for publication.

Interpretation of rates for jurisdictions should take into consideration variation in the assignment of care types and cross-border flows.

The quality of data on Indigenous status is not considered to be adequate for analysis purposes for the ACT and Tasmania.
