|Further data development / collection required:||Specification: Long-term
Ability to identify mental health service treatment occasions. In keeping with the specifications of the CMHC NMDS, a number of jurisdictions only supply data on patients being treated to the CMHC NMDS. Other jurisdictions supply contacts data that encompass encounters that do not amount to treatment.
The Mental Health Information Strategy Sub-committee (MHISS) proposes to start work to amend the data definitions in the CMHC NMDS to allow the identification of people who are assessed but not treated. That work will still not necessarily capture all service contacts recorded by community mental health services.
Data development activity is required to enable more timely provision of data in order to meet the identified reporting requirements.Indigenous identification needs improvement.
|Other issues caveats:|
Disaggregations within individual jurisdictions are subject to data quality considerations. Some disaggregations may result in numbers too small for publication.There is some variability in the collection of data across jurisdictions affecting comparability.
