Guide for use: | This Data element is used to represent the Behavior and Symptom Identification Scale (BASIS-32) consumer-rated survey instrument. Questions are asked of the consumer about the rating period, with a single allowable response for each question. This measure has 32 questions categorised into 5 sections for different aspects of behaviour and psychological distress symptoms which are rated on a 5-point scale from No difficulty to Extreme difficulty. Scoring of this measure is conducted through a proprietary, licenced algorithm. |

Discharge ratings for the BASIS-32 are not required for brief ambulatory episode of mental health care where the number of days between admission to and discharge from the episode of care is 14 days or less duration. Consumers will be offered to complete the BASIS-32 at the specified Collection occasion but completion by the consumer is not mandatory. There are circumstances where offering such measures will not be appropriate and special considerations apply to the collection of consumer rated measures.
