Description: | The percentage of the mental health service organisation's services (weighted by expenditure) that have been reviewed against the National Standards for Mental Health Services. This indicator grades services into four categories:
NOTE: This indicator is related to National Mental Health Service Standards compliance (Jurisdictional level). There are no technical differences in the calculation methodologies between the Service level version and the Jurisdictional level version of this indicator. |
Rationale: | The National Mental Health Standards for Mental Health Services provide an agreed national framework for service quality and consistency. All Australian mental health services are required to be accredited against the National Standards. Implementation of the National Mental Health Standards for Mental Health Services has been agreed by all jurisdictions. |

Further data development / collection required: | This indicator can be accurately constructed using the Mental health establishments NMDS. This is based on the method used to track services developed for the previous National Standards for Mental Health Services (1996). This method will be used until a new approach is developed and implemented in national data collections. |
