The aim of intensive care liaison nurses is to improve patient outcomes through providing specialised interventions and other support services to acutely ill patients in hospital wards, usually but not always patients who have been discharged from an Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Rapid responses to patients who are experiencing serious clinical deterioration make up one of the main roles of these nurses.
