Definition:![]() | Molecular pathology is the study and diagnosis of disease through the examination of genetic and molecular abnormalities. It endeavours to explain why a given genetic change results in particular clinical phenotype. Molecular pathology testing is performed on a patient's tissue sample and includes techniques such as, for example, oligonucleotide array sequence analysis of gene expression patterns in disease states and the detection of mutations with polymerase chain reaction. |
