Description:![]() | Number of regular clients who are Indigenous, aged 15 years and over, are recorded as having Type II diabetes or cardiovascular disease (CVD) and who have had an estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) recorded within the previous 12 months with a result of (ml/min/1.73m²):
|
Rationale:![]() | Indigenous Australians have very high levels of kidney disease due to a range of risk factors and antecedents. Kidney disease contributes substantially to the high burden of ill health experienced by Indigenous Australians. Tests of a person’s urine and blood can identify most cases of chronic kidney disease when the disease is in its early stages, enabling treatment to prevent or slow down the progression. Glomerular filtration rate is accepted as the best measure of kidney disease. |

Computation description:![]() | Count of regular clients who are Indigenous, aged 15 years and over, are recorded as having Type II diabetes or CVD and who have had an eGFR recorded within the previous 12 months with a result of (ml/min/1.73m²):
‘Regular client’ refers to a client of an OATSIH-funded primary health care service (that is required to report against the Indigenous primary health care key performance indicators) who has an active medical record; that is, a client who has attended the OATSIH-funded primary health care service at least 3 times in 2 years. A client is recorded as having Type II diabetes or CVD if on the clinical record the service has recorded a condition or condition code that the system considers to be Type II diabetes or CVD. Presented as a number. |
