Guide for use: | CODE 1 Clinical trial A clinical trial is a controlled experiment involving a defined set of subjects and having a clinical event as an outcome measure. It is intended to yield scientifically valid information about the efficacy or safety of a medical intervention such as, for example, a drug, surgical procedure or diagnostic test. CODE 2 Supportive care trial Research studies that look at ways to improve the quality of life for patients and survivors. For example, supportive care trials may look at interventions to reduce issues encountered by patients, such as fatigue, nausea, pain, weight loss, higher risk for other diseases, depression and anxiety. These studies often include interventions from other areas of allied health, such as changing nutrition, psychological therapy, physical therapy and a range of group therapies. These may also be known as supportive care studies. CODE 3 Other research study This includes involvement in areas of research that are not covered by either clinical trials or supportive care trials. This may involve providing information and/or tissue for exploratory or lab-based research. |
