Collection methods:![]() | Data are collected at each service from resident administrative and care related record systems. Services forward data to the relevant state or territory health authority on a regular basis (e.g. monthly). National reporting arrangements State and territory health authorities provide the data to the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare for national collection, on an annual basis. Western Australia will be able to only collect data for 2004-05 for those data elements that were included in the National Health Data Dictionary version 12. Government-operated services that employ mental health trained staff on-site 24 hours per day are to be included from 1 July 2004. Government-funded, non-government operated services and non 24-hour staffed services can be included from 1 July 2004, optionally. For non 24-hour staffed services to be included they must employ mental health-trained staff on-site at least 50 hours per week with at least 6 hours staffing on any single day. Periods for which data are collected and nationally collated Financial years ending 30 June each year. The reference period starts on 1 July and ends on 30 June each year. |
