Collection methods:![]() | Preferably agencies should allocate a unique identifier to a household when they are placed on the waiting list, and this ID should then remain when/if they receive assistance. This enables the matching of waitlist data with assistance data. Waitlist ID should be related to a particular service episode. For each separate service episode a separate waitlist ID should be recorded. Same address transfers, mutual exchanges, and succession of tenancy of dwellings are not considered separate episodes of assistance. It should also be related to a particular program type (e.g. public rental housing, home purchase assistance, etc.). However, there may be some instances where an Indigenous household is listed as a waitlist applicant household on both the public housing and Aboriginal rental housing program waiting lists using the same waitlist ID. |
Comments:![]() | In New South Wales, application reference numbers are assigned to eligible applicants on the waiting list and this number is common for the applicant across programs. This links applicants to other forms of assistance if provided (e.g. Rentstart or Special Assistance Subsidy). Tasmania identifies applicant households by counting the application reference of the first person on the application form rather than allocating a distinct household reference to an application. Each time they apply for further assistance the application reference changes. |
