Comments: | Examples of such conditions include postpartum haemorrhage, retained placenta, puerperal infections, puerperal psychosis, essential hypertension, psychiatric disorders, diabetes mellitus, epilepsy, cardiac disease and chronic renal disease. Complications of the puerperal period may cause maternal morbidity, and occasionally death, and may be an important factor in prolonging the duration of hospitalisation after childbirth. |
