The following information is applicable to object classes only.
A single or multi-word designation assigned to an object class.
Mandatory completion.
The name should be concise and indicative of the content of the object class.
Capital letters should only be used for the first letter of the first word and proper nouns.
The term ‘event’ should only be used within event-based metadata item names which require clarification that the metadata item refers to an event, rather than a physical entity. For example, the name ‘Injury event’ signifies that the object class refers to the event in which an injury occurred, not the injury itself.
Hyphens (-) should only be used when two or more words are turned into a single compound word. Do not leave any spaces before or after the hyphen. For example, ‘on-call’, ‘waist-to-hip ratio’.
Do not include any of the following in an object class name:
Numbers should be expressed in a numeric rather than alphabetic form e.g. 2.1
Slashes are permitted; do not include any spaces before or after the slash.
