Definition: | The amount of radiation administered. Radiotherapy is the treatment of disease by means of ionizing radiation. The amount or dose of radiation administered is measured in grays. The gray (Gy) is the SI (International System of Units) unit of absorbed radiation dose of ionizing radiation (for example, X-rays), and is defined as the absorption of one joule of ionizing radiation by one kilogram of matter (usually human tissue). |
