Description:
Proportion of the labour force who are unemployed, aged 15 to 64 years.
Rationale:
Widely used measure of potentially underutilised labour resources in the economy. People who are unemployed for long periods may experience greater financial hardship and may have more difficulties in finding employment because of the loss of relevant skills and employers’ perceptions of their employability.
Crude rates are calculated, including relative standard errors and confidence intervals.
Rate ratios and rate differences are calculated for Indigenous:non-Indigenous.
Presentation: per 100 persons (percentage).
