Further data development / collection required:

Specification: Long-term

Accuracy of Indigenous identification of deaths, and the underlying Indigenous population data, needs to be improved.

Other issues caveats:

Present directly age-standardised rates for Indigenous, remoteness area and SES.

Disaggregation by Indigenous status is to be reported using a 3 or 5 year rolling average.

Disaggregations within individual jurisdictions are subject to data quality considerations.

Further details (including data for 2002 to 2006) are available from the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Performance Framework (Indicator 1.22 & 1.23).
