Housing and homelessness approval process

Three national committees play key roles in the development and endorsement of national data standards for the Australian housing assistance and Indigenous housing assistance sectors.

National Housing Data Agreement Management Group (NHDAMG)

The NHDAMG was established by the Housing Ministers' Advisory Council (HMAC) for the development and management of housing assistance data. The Group consists of representatives of the signatories to the National Housing Data Agreement and oversees the development of National Minimum Data Sets, National Performance Indicators and National Data Definitions and Standards under the agreement. The Group acts as the Registration Authority for all national housing assistance data standards. These standards require endorsement from the NHDAMG to be included as standards in METeOR and the National Housing Assistance Data Dictionary.

National Indigenous Housing Information Implementation Committee (NIHIIC)

NIHIIC is a working group of the Standing Committee on Indigenous Housing (SCIH), which consists of representatives of the signatories to the ANIHI. The role of NIHIIC is to improve access to, and the quality of, Indigenous housing information.

NIHIIC oversees the development of the national Indigenous housing data, including the data required for the National Reporting Framework for Indigenous housing. Data standards for the National Reporting Framework are endorsed by NIHIIC to be included as standards in METeOR and the National Housing Assistance Data Dictionary.

National Housing Data Development Committee (NHDDC)

The NHDDC is a technical advisory subcommittee which operates as directed by the NHDAMG and provides technical support to both NHDAMG and NIHIIC. The NHDDC makes recommendations to the NHDAMG and NIHIIC on data definitions and standards for inclusion in the National Housing Data Dictionary, METeOR and associated data sets. It maintains the National Housing Data Dictionary as the authoritative source of data standards and conducts other data development work as directed. The NHDDC also makes recommendations regarding measurement of national performance indicators.

The NHDDC works closely with other groups involved in developing data standards including the National Indigenous Housing Information Implementation Committee and the National Community Services Data Committee.
