Further data development / collection required: | Specification: Interim
Development is underway on nationally consistent data definitions for measuring growth in sub-acute care services for admitted and non-admitted services which will be due for reporting from 1 2010. This dataset will provide the ability to report an access measure for admitted patients and counts of non-admitted services (not people). Improving the identification of Indigenous Australians within this data. Only separations can be reported and not the number of people. Hospital systems do not currently contain information to allow the identification of records belonging to the same individual so person counts are not currently possible. Further work is also required in relation to inconsistencies in reporting types of sub-acute care. |
Other issues caveats: | The data quality statement should reflect variation among jurisdictions in the assignment of care types.
Where possible, age groups should be consistent with other indicators in the COAG outcome area 'Aged Care'. |
